Obama is one of the most liberal senators in the US, and his stances on the issues prove that he is quite a bit further to the Left than Hillary Clinton. Problem was, I actually had to make an effort to find a comprehensive detail of his stances, given by and large he has let them take a backseat to cheap lip service about "Change", "bipartisan politics" and other such tugs to the voters' heart-strings when he has been on the stump. Too bad his old buddy Jeremiah Wright, and his wife Michelle, won't keep their yaps shut. When the GOP razor-gang comes to play, they had better take a step back and leave the talking to Barack if they want him to stand a chance at withstanding the inevitable shitstorm. Because the more quotable fodder they offer up, the harder it will be for Obama to avoid getting drowned in a sea of their ill-informed tripe.
When it comes down to policy, which is what people should be voting for (Policy > Party), he just isn't very sound. Zero legitimate foreign policy experience, his solution to America's decline is to kick up taxes and duck into a more protectionist economy (fiscally irresponsible to say the least), universal health-care at taxpayers' expense, and an instantaneous withdrawal of troops from Iraq which will be dangerous for all parties involved. If he was a moderate, I could understand him talking about bipartisan politics, but please... his grounding is bordering on Socialism.
McCain gets my support by default. Not because he is a great candidate, because I don't think that McCain is at all. But, if nothing else, he is a far better presidential option than Barack Obama ever will be.
