Saw Apocalyptica in concert on Thursday.
First off I gotta say...These guys were freakin' amazing! When I managed to meet them after the show and they all are very friendly and kind people who are in it for the fans and love of music. When I asked what gave them the idea to play metal with cellos, Perttu made the 'crazy' sign and said, "We're just crazy like that." They're very into getting the audience invovled with the show. Constantly Paavo would yell and would get the crowd either clapping or jumping. Then whenever they played a song with lyrics, they would have the audience sing it since they didn't have a vocalist.
Anyway, we got there earlier enough to where I did get to see them (until security closed the door) them warm up. Then with the way the club was laid out, I was able to stand fronter-center and was a few feet away from them the whole time. (They're insane; Paavo and Eicca did some sword fighting with their cello bows and Mikko Sirén did throw a water bottle at Antero.) They did two encores. The first one they played two songs with and the second they said, "Well I see you're still here. Guess you had a lot of fun and if you're sweet and nice to us, we'll play you one more song. *the crowd cheers* Now shut up so we can play."
The show was pretty short though. It was over in little over an hour but it was simply incredibly. About half an hour after the show, they came out to talk with everyone. I got my picture taken with Paavo, Eicca, Mikko, and Perttu as well as all their autographs. I got really close to catching Mikko's drum stick but it bounced off the railing in front of me and someone dived to get it.
I also got a copy of the song list that Mikko used which I had them autograph. I bought myself a T-Shirt and picked one up for my boyfriend too. I got autographs from all four for him but since I was holding his shirt while getting them, Paavo also signed his shirt.
