I read it when it first came out, New Danger. It started off quite well, but with each turn of the page, I liked it less and less.

Currently, I'm reading War of the Rats by David L. Robbins. So far, so good.

Hannibal Rising- Thomas Harris

I love this book, I am right at the end, though some parts are a bit "err whats going on?" I am totally gripped by this tale of young hannibal and the terrier like inspector popil working for/against hannibal, its an excellent tale of revenge and the slow decline of a boy turning into a monster that is in red dragon, silence of the lambs and hannibal!

great stuff

I read half of Halo: Ghosts of Onyx yesterday within five hours. Oh, my Spartans, how I've missed you!

I just finished reading Doom: Knee-deep In The Dead.

It was a decent read, I mean I could write a better book but I was still fairly entertained. My only real complaint was the fact that they said "Yours Truly" about 50 times too many, how corny.

I plan on reading the second one, Hell On Earth I think.

So I've been on a crusade to re-read all the Resident Evil books I haven't read in a while and don't really remember.

Nemesis
I read Nemesis in a few days. It was a decent read, but jesus, how many times did she think I needed to read "I don't trust Umbrella" only stetched out over paragraphs before I got the point? Not just Jill either, but Carlos comes along for the ride too, and it's just like Christ. The subplot with Nicholai hunting the Watchdogs was fun as always.
I don't think I'm going to pick up this book again, not for a long time anyway.

Code Veronica
Then I read Code Veronica. It was pretty good, but it totally killed itself at the end. I honestly liked the romance between Claire and Steve, and I loved the parts from Steve's perspective, but once they got to Chris' part, the book just took a nosedive. Seriously, what the fuck.

Talk about rushed. From what I remember, Chris' scenario was lengthy, not as long as Claire's, but it was long enough. What do we get in the book?
Chris shows up at the island, he bombs the Gulp Worm, Wesker makes his first of three appearances, then bam he's in Antartica right infront of the mansion replica, Wesker shows up again, boo hoo Steve dies and no one really cares, then it's basically over, and Wesker give's a halfassed prolouge.

Argh!

Wesker is comepletely underused and acts like a real idiot. Alexia comes off as nothing but an arrogant dumbass, too. But what really gets me is that it's just rushed. Rushed and lazy. Not a Hunter Seeker in sight, no albanoids, none of the shit that happens to Chris on Rockfort. And if I remember correctly, there's some length to Antartica before you even get to the mansion.
...Argh!

So I felt bad, because the first 3/4ths of the book was good.

Now I'm reading City of the Dead (the RE2 one) and it's great. I really like it so far, and despite playing the game a hundred times and reading the book before, the beginning still had me gripped. It made me realize how automated Nemesis and Code Veronica were. Perry shows her real talent here.

Pilgrim by Timothy Findley

From the synopsis I was expecting an entirely different style of writing. The basic plot is about a guy who seemingly cannot die eventhough he's constantly attempting, and sometimes briefly succeeding, to commit suicide.

The book has pretty much had Pilgrim (Mr suicidal) as a background character and has put his friends and doctors to the forefront. With that said, it would be kind of hard to have Pilgrim as a protagonist due to the fact that he was mute up until about chapter 10 and even then he only spoke in his sleep.

Just ordered The Bridge, The Crow Road, The Wasp Factory and Complicity all by Iain Banks.

Nearly finished reading Ex Machina : March To War by Brian K Vaughan aswell.

A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams.

Allusions, ftw. Somehow this is very much like the dialogue in American Psycho.

Resident Evil: City of the Dead

It was a good read. Probably the best of the RE books.

The Alphabet of Manliness by Maddox

It was funny, hilarious at parts, but somewhat lacking. I thought that the lack of closure at the end really hurt the book. It just has the Z article, and then it's done. No closing statement or anything. Overall it was an entertaining, if breif, read.

I'm A Stranger Here Myself by Bill Bryson

While nowhere near the greatness that is A Walk In The Woods (my favorite book of all time), this book is still a delightful read. Like The Alphabet, though, it seemed to over too quickly. Then again, I'm reading these books for hours straight, so it shouldn't be a surprise.

World War Z by Max Brooks

Okay, so I'm actually only on page 70ish, but I can already tell this is one of the best books I've ever read. Just god damn is it a mind trip. On several occasions I've had to stop and remind myself that these are not real people talking, that these stories never happened, not a lick of it is the truth and it does not exist. But I fall right back in, because it just seems so real. I can't wait to see what the rest of the book holds.

Are you also a fan of Tucker Max? I thought his book, I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell was better. I mean, I really liked Maddox's book, but I was more entertained by Tucker Max's stories.

I'm just starting One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

Already Dead by Charlie Huston

A book involving zombies and vampires? Count me in! Although, it isn't quite that simple...
Quote:
Manhattan is teeming with the undead, the island divided into often-warring vampire clans such as the Society, the Hood and the Enclave. The most powerful is the Coalition, whose goal is to protect its members from public scrutiny and persecution. Rogue PI Joe Pitt (aka Simon), who like all vampires is infected with a virus that requires him to drink blood regularly, is hired by Marilee Horde, a prominent New York socialite, to locate her runaway teenage daughter, Amanda, who may be slumming with homeless goth kids in the East Village. Meanwhile, a "carrier" is on the loose, infecting its victims with a bacterium that turns them into brain-eating zombies. The Coalition wants Pitt to find and destroy the carrier, since the carnage the zombies are causing brings unwanted attention to the undead community.
The promotion around the book led me to think that the zombie/vampire plot would be quite a big factor but in actuality it isn't. The zombies are a small plot point and are underused and, arguably, the story could have been told using humans as opposed to vampires but it's an interesting change of pace.

An enjoyable thriller/detective story even if it isn't the hardest book to read. It's apparently part 1 of a 5 part story so it'll be interesting to see how it unfolds. It's also soon to be a film so that'll be interesting as I can see it crossing over quite well.

Currently readin Bottomfeeder by B. H. Fingerman which, despite the humorous title, is a really well written book so far. Great grasp of language and funny to boot.
