Mystery of the Ages

I recently discovered this book by Herbert W Armstrong. Its called Mystery of the Ages, and apparently it was published in 1986. Armstrong had been long since been sharing this message with the world. Since 1934 to be exact, when he began publishing The Plain Truth Magazine.

I frankly cant believe that Ive never heard of this guy before. When I began reading though this book, I was astonished because it was the first time Id ever really felt like someone else really understood what Id been trying to express.

Heres hoping that we can get some good discussion about the things in this book without this turning into warzone.

You mean the guy who slept with his daughter? yeah, I've heard of him.

You do realise that ultimately he was completely wrong on all his predictions? He thought WW2 would end with the second coming, that WW3 would occur and end with the second coming, and after all that failed still insisted the second coming would occur in his lifetime. He believed everyone in the West was descended from the Israelites, which is easily disproved by the lack of any Israeli DNA in our genes. He also insisted WW3 would be triggered by the United States of Europe (not the EU) fighting against Jesus.

He also saw masturbation and long hair on men as a sin.

Wasnt aware of all that, actually. But Im not here to discuss the personal life of this man. Im here to talk about the book. And regardless of any skeletons the guy may have had in his closet, the explaination of the coming Kingdom of GOD within this book is still spot on.

WWIII will end with the Second Coming. I believe that its very close. I suppose it could carry on for another 20 - 30 years, but given the signs of the times, I dont think so.

He never claimed that everyone in the West was decended from the Israelites. You dont understand the Christian principle of spiritual inheritance. GODs covenant with Abraham was one of physical promises. A nation, here on Earth, that would never fall. Israel was chosen by GOD to carry the seed of the Messiah, so that with his coming, the rest of the world could inherit spiritual promises of salvation. Through Christ, we become the "adopted" seed of Abraham.

WWIII will not be triggered by the Second Coming. It will be brought upon by the Anti-christ. The beginning of his reign on Earth will be of peace, but he will break his own treaties, and unleash Armageddon. At the end of the Great Tribulation, when the world is on the brink of total destruction, Christ will return, and he will establish the Kingdom of GOD on Earth.

ALSO, where did you get your information about Armstrong having slept with his daughter? Cant find anything about it.
