Desktop Troubles

Ugh, guys I need your help. My desktop has been giving me a lot of grief lately,
I`ll set the background color to black but when ever I restart my computer, it
changes to a custom blue color. I dunno whats causing this nor do I know how
to fix it.

I run Windows Xp and also use AlienGUise software, if anyone could help me
figure out this problem I would really appreciate it.

Hmmm. All I can really say is that are you sure you're actually selecting the colour and then clicking "Update" (or whatever). Or are you just selecting the colour and then clicking "Close"?

Its probably that software. Mess around inside of it and see if you can change it using that.

Yea I`m pretty certain I'm doing it right.

The AlienWare only changes the skin of your desktop, in any case I've looked over
the theme manager and can't find any way to alter the background color or anything.
One of my friends told me that she had this problem a while ago and said that it
eventually worked itself out, i guess that I`ll have to be patient and see if the
same happens for me.

Right Click Desktop > Preferences > Appearance Tab > Advanced

There should be a drop down with desktop selected and a color drop down list beside it. Check and see if this is blue perhaps?

No Idea what the Alienware thing is so cant really help much

Uninstall that AlienGUI if its merely a cosmetic issue. Cant really help you unless you backtrack to what was the last thing you did before the PC went cracko.

It's always blue upon restart, but i always change and save it to black.
I'll try what you suggested MoS, I'll let you guys know if this fixes the
problem or not. Thanks for the suggestions and for the help.

its a different way of changing it, unless thats how you always do it. most people just go to preferences, desktop then set a color as a background.

It seems that deleting AlienGuise did nothing to resolve the problem, worse I`ll be
losing my net connection for a while. The only other alternative i have is to talk to
a friend of mine, perhaps he can give me some help. To those who offered their
insight, thank you.
