Advent Children (a game based movie made by the game company itself) sucked. RE4 (Resident Evil with a brand new storyline) sucked.
RE: Degeneration. A game-based movie made by the game company itself with a brand new storyline... I smell double suckage. Capcom better not screw it up.

EDIT: Actually, I'd rather have this one based on the movies. It would be a hell of a lot easier to make an army of Alices. Either way, I'd be looking forward to that a hell of a lot more, than I would be to a movie based off of games, because after Umbrella Chronicles, no doubt Capcom won't be coming back to the Raccoon City incident, which means this movie could have Ganados for all we know. And that would be disastrous.

If its based off the games I hope it will tie in with RE 4 & 5.

I hope not. I sincerely hope it WILL have T-Virus and zombies and stay away from the Ganados like they were Biohazardous. Pun intended.

Frankly I'm prefering this idea of another live-action pic, largely because I can't help imagining it'll me more accurate to the games, since the audience for such movies (japanese made animation) is smaller and more likely to have played RE.
I do remember hearing rumours a while ago that Capcom wanted to reboot the film franchise- If they want to bring Resident Evil back to its roots after the Mad-Maxiness of Apocalypse, this could be a great way to do it without the expense of another live action feature.

Bring the series back to its roots? I doubt Capcom wants to do that, judging from how RE5 looks.

I have a lurking suspicion that RE5 may be more of a true Resident Evil than its predecessor, but only time will tell...
If this movie isn't a continuation of the live action series there are certainly more possibilities for crossover with the whole 'Umbrella' storyline, which I would say is at the heart of Resident Evil. Wether or not we return to Racoon City, if familiar characters return alongside a threat from Umbrella, and the tone of the movie is closer to that of the games, then I'll be quite happy.

Which games though? Like I said, if the movie is based around some Ganados or whatever those things are in RE5, to me it's just gonna be a pretty show of graphics. (Which is what I'm expecting out of RE5, good graphics and compelling gameplay. I don't expect to be scared or enlightened by its story). Except in this case, it excludes the compelling gameplay.
I sincerely hope it's based around T-Virus and Umbrella. If that's done, they can introduce a brand new cast of characters for all I care. I'd rather have some new guy battling zombies and Umbrella, than have Chris battling some parasites or some cult.

I hope they will do a good movie of RE1 that stays true to the story of the game... or they could do a movie about Outbreak. Since Outbreak doesn't have an official storyline they can do with it whatever they want.

I also would definately not like to see ganados or anything like that.

Maybe they should do a movie of Survivor. Improve the story and acting and graphics... I honestly don't think it's possible to go wrong with Survivor, because no matter what they do, it HAS to be better than the game.

Something else for people to bitch and complain about... grrrreat.

I cannot see them doing it based on any of the games. It will either be a tie in to RE5 or something completely original. Hell, based on outbreak would be kinda cool.

THe films will never have the games storylines....thats what the games are there for.
