Fallen S.T.A.R.S.
What something makes us RE fans love Raccoon City? Is it the fact that just a little ways out, a virus would be made that would threaten the cities population and make for two great post apocalyptic masterpieces (RE2&3)? Or do we like the fact that even though you can run, there is nowhere to hide (RE:O&File#2) ?
Nevertheless I would like to venture back to the zombie infested city for one last game. I would like to see a RE game where you can venture back into the great city where so many stories took place. Now the concept of being a S.T.A.R.S. member is not a new in concept in the RE series but I think that a squad based RE game would be awesome. Now i know some people may turned off by the fact that a squad based game because it takes away from a hug element in the RE series; being alone. The Outbreak series (and even RE0 to some extent) have created games with other characters and still produced a feeling of horror. With online gaming almost perfected, i think that RE take advantage of one of gaming's greatest breakthroughs (of course there would be a single player campaign for those without internet access).
You and your friends would all start off together as a four man squad of the elite S.T.A.R.S. unit to *accomplish tasks; setting perimeters and taking down little zombies and what not. As the game progresses you start to split up, first into two man groups and then solo all the while fighting zombies and crazy B.O.W.s.
Although you will split up characters will regroup for small sessions at a time (Think of a chapter where you and a squad-mate are pinned down in a small store while hundreds of hungry zombies try to invade through various entrances). It will be at this time where one of you decides to hold them off while the other gets a bulldozer. Or is there a gas canister your buddy can throw while you take aim. Scenarios like this will heighten suspense as well as take advantage of a communications system, the infamous S.T.A.R.S. radio. The radio will give team members access to other members (when it works, because the radios in RE never work when you really need them) as well as informs you of what's going on with the other members of your team ("Help where pinned down at the Kwikee Mart in the lower district").
I think ideas and concepts like these will provide for great gameplay. But enough of my ideas, tell me what you think. Do you think an RE game like this would be enjoyable? Please share how you think this game would fall and how it can fixed; is there something that you would like to see incorporated? Please share your thoughts.
