Default Plothole in RE Movies

*EDIT* Title changed to accomodate more

I know, I know, it's to be expected. But I just noticed it and wondered if anyone could clarify.

Okay so in the beginning ALice says the entire world is desert, yet at the end when Wesker is holding the latest Hologram meeting (supposedly in tokyo I believe) they show the streets and they look normal, in fatc its raining and there's lightning. SO am I to expect that tokyo remains unaffected by this whole "earth dying" thing.

For proof see this link at: 5:50 to 6:08

I believe at the end of Extinction it shows Tokyo and there are zombies there....maybe they were in an underground base or something

Well, Tokyo is a coastal city. There's not a lot of vegetation to dry up, turn to soil/sand and cover the streets with. Alice said "forests became deserts", and Im not sure if Tokyo has any major forests around it.

I dont see the problem with it raining, either.

But oceans dried up too. Thus, JPN would be majorly impacted and the process of the water cycle would be null without any water to evaporate.

That's one thing that never made sense to me, about Extinction anyways. You would think the total desolation of earth, terrain-wise, would take longer than 5 years or so to become such a wasteland. I could see deserts consuming some southwestern towns in 10, but the drying up of oceans? I thought without human activity, the water would increase, or take over some small island areas. Strangeness.
And Japan...or pacific areas, either the water or growth of vegetation from the coastal areas would start crawling in back towards the cities. Just a theory.

Pretty sure it was lakes and rivers that dried up.

Edit: And it is...

Proof.

Dialogue starts at 7:04? "... lakes and rivers dried up, forests became deserts, and whole continents were reduced to nothing but barren wastelands..."

It does not state that ALL continents have.

Ah good, It didn't make sense for a second. Lakes and rivers, maybe more than 5 years...but whole oceans coming to in less than a century seemed a little off there.

Nah, I cant blame ya. There were quite a few instances in any of anderson's movies that failed to make sense or be realistic. Ah, but it was an action movie, nevertheless. The other majority of those who watched, only paid attention to Milla's rack and zombie kills.
