I was reading that MGS2 design doc that just go translated and I saw the plot section about the railgun never being operational and Ocelot having to cover that bit up. It explains why The Patriots (through Solidus) weren't worried about Liquid's Shadow Moses threat when they set up the whole event, why they weren't worried about rogue states getting their hands on a Metal Gear when they ordered Ames to give Nastasha the mission data for her "protection" (great bluff pretending he was giving her the data out of old feelings for her so she'd have leverage against The Patriots. wouldn't surprise me if Ames was still alive) and why they ensured her book got published. think about it, she wrote it for the purpose of telling everyone why Metal Gears were so dangerous and should not be built, but what did it really do? create a climate of fear that fully justified the US making it's own MGs and counter-MGs. it's led to an arms race and war becoming this "well-oiled rational transaction" which we know from The Boss in MGS3 is how The Patriots get their power. they get all the benefits of having a Metal Gear but without the disadvantage of potential nuclear war because they know Iraq+NKorea can't make it work. the only Metal Gear that did work was Sokolov's, but they aren't seen as real MGs and they wouldn't work in modern times because they can't use stealth missiles.

Exactly what days are TGS being held? And is there any idea as to when MPO and MGS4 will be presented?

Sept 22-24, I believe. The Konami trailers tend to debut on the first day at TGS, so I'd make an educated guess that it'd be around then.

I hope they do something special for MG...im kinda loosing major interest in ps3...they dont have anything thats not going to be on 360 or wii...except MG and FFXIII...

if they pull something utterly brilliant with MG4 i might consider buying one in the future...otherwise, i think my journey with solid snake ended in MG2...blasphemy i know...but is there a point to buying a console just for one game? i would consider it if the ps3 wasnt sooooo damn pricey...360 got the price right...


lets hope when MG4 emerges....theres a price drop...and i can watch raiden be all gay copying frank in a ninja suite

Well I'm buying my ps3 for MGS4, so to me it's worth it. And I have total faith that MGS4 will be one of the greatest video games ever made

I love how people call Raiden "gay", even though he's one of the only characters who really got to see in an active relationship. (Snake and Meryl, the Boss and the Sorrow, Big Boss and Eva, Vamp and his numerous lovers, don't count, as we never really "saw" them. Big Boss and The Boss never had a sexual relationship, or at least it's never stated that they did).

Well, I bought a PS2 for only one game (MGS2) and it was the best decision I ever made. Eventually you span out and experiment with new games, and find things you enjoy (Kingdom Hearts, GTA, etc.)

I also bought my Gamecube for one game (Resident Evil 4), and I ended up playing REmake and Zero later. Then I got Mario Kart Double Dash, and Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, which is in my opinion, one of the funnest games of all time. Now eventually, the Cube just wasnt offering anything anymore, and I got rid of it, but I certaintly dont regret the time that I had one.

In short, I guess it can go either way. Also depends on how much you want to play the game. In the instance, Id say that MGS4 is worth it if your half as much a MG freak as I am.
