Agreed, if they just do an "events leading up to SH1" game, simply to fill in the chronology, and made for the sake of it, I'll be dissapointed. If they give us some solid story information and back story, some decent explanations and answers, AND an "events leading up to SH1" game, I'll be happy.

As you say, Team Silent are writing the story, and they've never dissapointed before, so I have faith.

BUT STILL, why Alessa? Why is she so special?
Its pretty much been explained. Its not as if these things just happened to Alessa. She was birthed specifically to be the Mother of 'God' from the beginning.

Its believed by some that Dahlia and Dr. Kaufman are the true parents of Alessa. Dahlia was one of the higher ups in the cult. Her ultimate goal was to witness the birth of 'God'. Kaufman was in the cult too, but he, like Father Vincent in SH3, was more worried about Earthly pleasures. He wanted money. He was in charge of the drug trafficing through which the cult obtained its finances. Apparently, Dahlia performed her little rituals and spells to channel the darkness into Alessa. Thats why Alessa had powers. Then when she was 7, she was burned horribly in a fire started by Dahlia. Dahlias goal was to make Alessas anger grow, so that she could nourish the demon, as seen in Silent Hill 3. Enter Silent Hill 1.

Movies will never be a carbon copy of the game's story lines. When will people learn this :P

After watching the movie a few times, it really got me in the mood for SH again. I don't actually own any of them though Has there been anything new on that supposed SH1 remake? or was that all speculation to begin with...

It was all speculation, a rumour started by Gans. Then everyone believed that Silent Hill origins would be it, but of course, it isn't. So yeah, nothing ever came of it.

Couldnt believe it went out into town 2day on the hunt for Silent Hill 1 on the PSX
My hopes werent high, but optimistic theres a few shops in Southampton that stock old PSX games.
Alas no such luck, but never mind, it was half expected.

What wasnt expected was GAME stores sending PS2's to the back of the shop, only seemingly caring about the XBox360(understandable) and Xbox (not so)

There were decent PS2 section, but again i couldnt find what i was looking for - SIlent Hill Collection (2-4)
Again, never mind, it figured its a rare box set, going for £50 on amazon.

So i surrended to buyin the PS2 invidually. or did I? No fuckin way, in all of 3 Game stores, 1 Gamestation, HMV, Virgin, E-Play, Woolworths, Cex, and even John Lewis I didnt even find ONE copy of any of the games.
I was morally outraged.

NB for UK members: Southampton has actually 4 GAME stores which is poposterous for such a small city

Amusingly, in my town I have 0 GAME stores. Infact, I only have one store that is specifically for video games and I've seen SH2, 3 and 4 in there. Go figure.

Play.com has the SH collection for £30 but it's sold out at the minute.

W00t. I got Silent Hill Collection just in time then. Play.com is your best bet, but if it's sold out then I don't really know. You should be able to pick them up quite cheap seperately. Good luck trying to find PSX Silent Hill. It's mad rare.

Neptune, your best bet for finding the games is probably ebay (obviously), only problem is the prices for all of them went up after the movie came out, and even now they're still going for more than they used to.

I remember right after the movie was released copies of SH1 were selling for around £150 each. They're around £20 now, which is an awful lot for a seven year old PS1 game, regardless of how good it is.

I only went and done it! i couldnt believe my luck!!!

The Gamestation in basingstoke=holy grail!
Went in a bit pesimistic due to previous experiences of not being able to find any silent hill games anywhere.
1st call the large PSx section. spent 5-10 mins lookin at each shelf attempting to find Silent hill1. No luck. About to move on, when i noticed a small basket underneath the shelf containing more PSX games. Bent down, took off the top game, and low and behold SILENT HILL - NON Platinum!!! for a tenner!!! Bargin!

Grabbed it, with a huge smile on my face! Next onto the PS2 section. Another long look in the preowned section and i find 2 copies of Silent Hill 3!! Excellent I thought, member here say these 2 games follow each other!
So picked up best lookin condition box and was about to buy. But then decided to check out new PS2 games. (Looking at LEgo Star Wars)
Again large collection, and i followed the alphabetical order down to "S" only to find Singster the closest to Silent Hill.

However, there were games behind it. 2 copies of Singster moved, and almost had a heart attack. Silent Hill Collection box set!!! Fuck yes!!!!
£35 bit expensive, but i did now have all SH games in my possession, so I took the plunge and bought em all!!!
Playing thru SH1 now, just in nice hospital before it enivatbly goes fucked up!

PS: when you buy SH1 you get a free PSX game 2!!! Got tomb raider and gave it to my cousin!!!
