Default Silent Hill

Can't be without a Silent Hill topic in a survival horror community.

For some reason, I didn't find the Silent Hill games as engaging as the Resident Evil series. Perhaps it was the characters, but I just didn't think they could be compared.

The first Silent Hill game was probably the one that I enjoyed the best. It had a fantastic soundtrack and I thought it had the best story, and the game was totally freaky as well. Silent Hill 2 and 4 bored me a great deal, but I did like 3 because it was interconnected with part 1.

I heard they're trying to alter Silent Hill to become an action series and this is something that many fans do not want to happen. I think Konami got the idea from both Silent Hill 4's first person view and Resident Evil 4's blend of action and over the shoulder combat.

Silent Hill Origins is currently being developed for the Sony PSP and it will be a supposed prequel to the other games, and will feature appearances by Dahlia and Kaufmann.

Hopefully it will be ported to PS2 like most popular PSP games because I don't know how to capture off of a PSP .

Not being at all up on the Silent Hill story, i was wondering is there actually a story to tell with Origins? I mean when all is said and done, Resi 0 is next to pointless and makes a mess of possibly the simplest plot device ever concieved of running into a mansion....

Or can Silent Hill's mythology be more acustomed to a prequel or does the first game pretty much make everything clear from the outset?

I think Silent Hill: Origins will be a completely different story with slight references to the others. Silent Hill 1 & 3 were tied, and Silent Hill 2 & 4 were kind of tied together so I think it'll be most likely an independant story.

All we really know so far is that the main character will be a trucker who gets stranded in Silent Hill.

Have they ever explained in any of the Silent Hill games what exactly is happening when the sirens go off? Where do the monsters come from?

I've heard a bunch of different theories, but I have no idea which one is even close to being cannon.

I've never heard the sirens go off in the game, but I have only played 2 & 3. The sirens are supposed to echo the sound off the siren telling the town about the fire in the movie.

The monsters are figments of the imaginations of the people
who are trapped in Silent Hill. Each of the monsters is supposed to represent a certain part of the characters story. For example, the Nurses are supposed to represent Jame's sexual frustration for his wife, and this is also mixed with the hospital scenery Mary was kept in.

As far as I understand it, the truck driver is supposed to be the origins of Silent Hill and this is his story.

The sirens do exist, i wa playin the demo of SH1 that came with MGS, and as you descend into the town following Cheryl the sirens can be heard. Its identical to the movie and all goes dark, followed by the iron rusty feel of the darkness SH

Wont it be cool if you become pyramid head at the end. What a twist if that was.
I can see that tieing with some of the games and a part of pyramid's background.

The 'Origin' of Pyramid Head so to speak - that might be Origins refers to, not to the town itself but characters within.
