I continuely see this game getting alot of criticism, be it for the MMO-type of exploration/battle, to the lead character, and the gambit system as well. It goes to show you people just don't like something different. I think it will be an amazing game, the demo was quite fun, and its setup for quite the epic story, which is what RPGs are mainly all about, telling a story. I think people probably forget from past FF's or any RPG that, at least for me, alot of the random battles consisted of me tapping whatever button accepted commands, not even worrying about a target or the enemies itself. The gambit system seems to do this for you, only a little more in depth. I guess it all depends on how smart the AI is, but I have heard it is quite good.

FFIII makes me want to buy a DS....must...resist...urge....to buy...useless....system....

Dirge of Cerberus was an okay game. It was fun most of the time, not really difficult though. It was of course no FF7. I think making it more of a DMC clone would have been better, it would have at least gave a use to melee, and I really never used the limit break...ever...but hey, you get to play as cait sith briefly, so win win XD
Same here i saw FFIII on gamespot, the graphics are stunning looking, i will def investing in buying DS for that reason, really looking forward to FFVII arriving here as well, just hope the controls are as easier as FF9 and not as difficult as the "Sphere grid" settings from FFX

Because Kefka is still, by far, the best FF villain in my book.
honestly i have never gotten that far into VI...but from what ive read kefka sounds fairly darn awesome...

my personal favorite villian is sorceress edea, before she turns good...shes just so slick when she orders galbadia to invade balamb and nearly kills squall the protaganist...plus its not often you get a female villians, but ultimecia i felt was a let down...edea should of kept to the evil side as it would of been far more painful for her orphans to kill her knowing shes the matron..but not we get some tart who likes giant chains for you to run across

I don't think that I can name by top ten, but VII would be my favourite, followerd very closely by VI and then VIII in third. Yeah, VII's my favourite, call me a fanboy if you want, I don't care

Was never really a fan of the tactics games, I'm not saying there was anything wrong with the stories/characters, I just can't play those types of games. And I did try it on more than one occasion.

The deal with the XIII games is that each of the games is independent of the others and only share a common mythological backdrop or 'mythos'. Apparently they're saying that the compilation of these games (and the one for VII) could last a decade, so I'm wondering if we'll even see a XIV on the PS3.

There is supose to be a trailer for Crisis Core at TGS, but I'm doubting that it will come out before the end of 2006 (obviously) like they had originally planned.

One has to take into consideration that its been taking longer and longer to get new FF games out these days. If you do not count FFXI, many do not, its been a long time between X and XII. The 2-3 games they have planned for XIII could very well fit that decade time frame. a little sad though. They better create an entertaining mythos if that is the only connection between them.

What about X-2 ... do people count it? With XIII, we only have one traditional Final Fantasy thus far. vs XIII is a Kingdom Hearts style game and Agito XIII will be like Before Crisis. But aparently Square has also made a trademark filing for the title "Final Fantasy Haerisis XIII" on May 1st, 2006.

well, X-2 was a sequel, and alot of the work was already done for them. It was more of a time between standard FF's type of statement. But I guess you could take it into consideration. it's still been far too long though. I dont remember waiting so long between 7 and 9

That is true: It doesn't seem like it too long for VII to be released before VIII was released (The same can be said for the time period between VIII and IX)...Now, it just seems like it takes years upon years for a new Final Fantasy game to get released...

I have to say that I am extremely ready for XII even though I really haven't been following it too much. I just have high hopes for this one for whatever reason. It surely can't be any worse than that dreadful Final Fantasy X-2. How can you even call that a Final Fantasy? It was just beyond terrible...The characters...The story...Bah, I just hated it plain and simple.

"Yeah, I killed the evil that plagued all of our world...I think I'll become a singer now!"

NO! Stupid!

I haven't played ten Final Fantasies, but I'll list in order of the ones I have:

1) Final Fantasy VIII
>>>Good characters, interesting story...And I was quite fond of the junction/draw system. It just seemed logical to me...I didn't really understand why no one else liked it. And even if you did junction characters with high level magic it didn't make them invincible. In Final Fantasy X, if you traveled them all around the Sphere Grid, they were practically invicible. I had it to where most boss fights were only one physical hit...No fun, that was! No fun!

2) Final Fantasy VII
3) Final Fatnasy X
4) Final Fantasy IX
5) Final Fantasy X-2 (Worst...Game...Ever...I ought to just sell it...)

I think one of the reasons 8 might be pushed back by people has to do with 6 and 7. The only new element was the draw and junction system, and in 6 you could already equip summons and learn magic from them. The limit system in 7 was more advanced.

8 has always been my favorite though, for junctioning magic, its style and color, the GFs, and I love most of the characters. gotta love gunblades ^_^

If you actually knew what you were doing with the junction system it made the game far too easy. I didnt hate VIII, I dont hate any of the FF's, they have their own, err, charm. Seifer could have been better, but he was still fun to fight...

the only thing I like from X-2 is the battle system. Its just so fast and fluid. Its not so much the changing between jobs, but the pace itself. I went back to, I think it was VIII, after X-2 and couldnt handle the battles, it was simply too slow...

if i recall AA, you're a level grinder, meaning you're always higher than what you should be and make the fights too easy anyway. At least thats what you did for X-2 :P

After playing XI and being in the same party for hours and only getting up a level or two, it really makes leveling up in other Final Fantasy games not too bad at all.

This may be kind of a stupid question, but does anyone know if you are able to change Vaan's name in FFXII? I'd rather if you couldn't, because I thought that having the characters refer to Tidus as you, him or you-know-who would have been much better if it were just Tidus.
